Canada is party to The Refugee Convention (1951 Convention Relating to the Status of Refugees) and works with United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees(UNHCR) in resettling and relocation of people facing danger to their lives due to systemic problems such as war, persecution etc. Every year thousands of people make Canada their haven by seeking asylum in Canada.
